TownFare Legal
Privacy Policy
TownFare collects information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and support the platform. We aim to keep private account information separate from what users intentionally publish.
Effective August 23, 2026
Information we collect
- Account information such as email address, username, display name, authentication information, profile photo, account preferences, and date of birth.
- Seller information such as business name, contact information, social links, general service area, photographs, categories, hours, menus, packages, availability, events, and listing details.
- Technical and usage information such as device type, browser information, approximate location derived from IP address, pages visited, searches, clicks, referrals, errors, and feature interactions.
- Support, report, and moderation information submitted by users or generated while TownFare reviews an issue.
Date of birth and age verification
Date of birth is collected to verify age, enforce seller age requirements, support account safety, and meet legal obligations. It is private account information and is not displayed on public profiles.
How we use information
TownFare uses information to operate accounts, display listings, personalize discovery, provide marketplace features, prevent fraud and abuse, respond to support, moderate content, measure performance, send operational communications, and comply with legal obligations.
Cookies, local storage, and analytics
TownFare uses essential browser storage, including cookies or local storage where necessary, to support core site and account functionality. With user permission, TownFare also uses analytics technologies to understand how the service is used, measure performance, diagnose errors, and improve features.
TownFare currently uses PostHog for product analytics and client-side error monitoring. When analytics are enabled, PostHog may receive information such as pages visited, feature interactions, browser and device information, approximate location derived from IP address, session information, and technical error information. TownFare configures analytics to identify signed-in users by an internal account identifier rather than intentionally sending a user's full email address as an analytics property.
Users can choose Essential only or Allow analytics and can revisit that choice through Cookie Preferences in the TownFare footer. Disabling analytics does not disable essential account or marketplace functions. Browser settings can also be used to clear stored cookies and local data.
Service providers
TownFare uses third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate the platform. These may include Supabase for database and authentication services, Vercel for hosting and delivery, Resend for transactional email, and PostHog for analytics when permitted. Providers process information according to their services, applicable agreements, and privacy practices.
TownFare does not sell users' personal information to advertisers.
Addresses and home-based sellers
TownFare does not require a home-based seller to publicly display a residential address merely to maintain a normal listing. A seller may display a general neighborhood or service area where appropriate. TownFare may privately collect additional information when needed for verification, safety, legal compliance, or regulatory requirements.
Sharing and retention
TownFare may disclose information to service providers necessary to operate the platform; when legally required; when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, threats, abuse, or illegal activity; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of the business.
TownFare may retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate accounts, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain moderation records, satisfy legal obligations, and enforce agreements.
Your privacy choices and requests
Users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by using available account or support tools or by contacting hello@townfare.app. TownFare may need to verify a request before acting on it. Certain records may be retained where reasonably necessary for legal, fraud-prevention, security, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Analytics preferences can be changed at any time through Cookie Preferences in the site footer.
Security and children
TownFare uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Seller accounts are intended for adults age 18 and older. TownFare is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
